When Wallflowers Dance
- In your new book, When
Wallflowers Dance, you describe yourself as a recovered “textbook”
wallflower. Explain first the wallflower concept and then please share
with us how you ever fit that description.
- In fact, the foreword
of the book is written by a close friend and counselor from your church
that describes you as a “modern-day Abigail” straight out of I Samuel 25
and talks about your transformation. What led to your personal experience
of being a wallflower, and then blossoming out of one?
- In your experience of
ministering to women, what percentage of women are dead to life or as you
put it, living an “un-life” as an “un-woman”?
- What are some of the
life experiences that can deaden women to being fully alive?
- One of the most
interesting aspects of the book is the dancing metaphor. Please tell us
how you use that illustration to describe a woman’s relationship with God?
- How can a woman
experience that sort of “dancing” relationship with God?
- You say that your book
at its core is about discipleship. Please explain the vital importance you
place on discipleship and what the end results are?
- Your book’s
lighthearted metaphor of dancing conceals a very intense concept of
realized spiritual maturity. The teaching, Scripture references, and
illustrations all feel like an in-depth Bible-study wrapped in a nice,
cozy blanket. How do you mix those elements so effortlessly?
- When Wallflowers
Dance shares some very
personal, intimate details of your darkest moments during your marital
separation and ultimate divorce. What do you hope those revelations will
accomplish for your readers?

best-selling author, actively involved church member and mother of four
children, how do you fit it all in? Do you see yourself as someone who
has got it all together? What is the secret for doing all that you do?
- As we close, what is
the most important message you want to give to women listening today?
