ICC Holds First Advisory Board Meeting

Store Advisors Shape Strategic Direction for “Good Cheap Catalogs”

NASHVILLE, TN–-Independent Christian Catalogs (ICC), the CBA industry’s provider of “good cheap catalogs, and nothing else,” held its first advisory board meeting in Nashville during January 2002.  The board, consisting of not only ICC catalog users but several Parable member stores as well, met to discuss how ICC’s catalogs could become more effective, useful and appealing.

Meeting twice annually, the five-member board includes some of the most respected names in Christian retailing, including:

·         David Rooker, The Scroll Christian Bookstore, Tyler, TX

·         Lou Muckenfuss, Son Shine Christian Bookstore in Moorestown, NJ

·         Richard Gillespie, Christian Treasures, Houston, TX

·         Howard Potratz, independent business consultant

·         Tim Blair, COO, The Parable Group, San Luis Obispo, CA

“We tapped this group of CBA retailers because they are innovators and leaders—even though some of them are not ICC catalog users,” says Joe Questel, President of ICC.  “This group knows that store growth means more than dollars and cents—it means people are being impacted by Christian products. And that’s what ICC is all about.”

During the all day meeting, the ICC advisory board discussed the current and future promotional schedule, product requirements for stores, and how best to serve stores given the current state of the industry.  Questel is planning for the next meeting of the board to happen in August 2002.

ICC started in 2001 to provide the highest quality catalogs at the lowest possible cost with minimal store commitment.  ICC serves over 700 stores, representing a wide mix of independent Christian retailers—from new retailers just starting out to larger well-established stores that are looking to add to their marketing mix.  ICC is based in Nashville, Tennessee.
