- George,
you’ve seen the best and worst life has to offer, from growing up in
poverty to earning boxing’s heavyweight championship; from bankruptcy and failed
marriages to a second championship and a new career as “King of the Grills.”
How did you fight off despair at the low points?
- You
came out of retirement in your 30’s and became boxing’s heavyweight world
champion for a second time at age 45. What advice do you have for
listeners who think it’s too late to change their lives for the better?
- I
read in your book, God in My Corner, that you consider your biggest
losses (losing to Ali, losing to Jimmy Young, losing your investments and
losing to Evander Holyfield) to be some of the best things that ever
happened to you. What do you mean by that?
- You’re
a preacher as well as a puncher (Ring Magazine named you one the
top nine punchers of all times). How do those two things fit
together?
- Your
new book shares tips from “George’s Corner” on topics like inspiring
others, being an optimist, seizing opportunity and finding success. It
seems you are consumed with helping others become better people. What
makes you such a nice guy, George? Have you always been this way?
- Did
you really name all five of your boys “George”? Why would you do
that to them?
- There
might be some younger folks who know you better as the “king of the grill”
than “king of the ring.” How did this phenomenon begin, and how many have
you sold so far?
- Do
you think having God in your corner gives you an edge over others in
business? How do faith and business come together for you?
