New Scientific Discoveries Support Theory of
Universe’s Intelligent Design
Journalist Lee Strobel Assembles
Evidences in New Book
Science
and faith have been at odds ever since Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species in 1859 and
Darwinism began to displace the need for a deity. But much has changed since Darwin’s day; tools such as the
electron microscope and the Hubble space telescope have dramatically propelled
scientific discovery forward. So does
Darwin’s theory still stand in light of new scientific discoveries? Lee Strobel, a Yale law school graduate, journalist
and former atheist, urges thinking people everywhere to investigate science’s
latest data—data which point toward an Intelligent Designer of the universe. The Case for a Creator: A Journalist
Investigates Scientific Evidence That Points Toward God (Zondervan,
April 2004) provides testimony from doctorate-level scientific experts in this
monumental yet accessible new book. This
new book recounts eight expert interviews, from six scientific disciplines,
which summarize the latest scientific data and origin of life theories. Strobel promises the new evidence will amaze,
even dazzle, skeptical readers.
“I hope
you’ll join me in my investigation,” Strobel invites. “Strip away your preconceptions as much as possible and keep an
open mind as you eavesdrop on my conversations with these fascinating
scientists and science-trained philosophers.
At the end you can decide for yourself whether their answers and
explanations stand up to scrutiny.”
Lee
Strobel, a former atheist, credits a similar investigation into the claims of
Christ and the support of science with his personal conversion. He has written about this journey in his
best-selling books, The Case for Christ
and The Case for Faith (selling more
than 4.3 million combined). This new
book, The Case for a Creator, employs the same journalistic approach
towards the scientific evidence for God.
Strobel addresses six different scientific disciplines via eight
personal interviews, in eleven chapters that include:
”As I review the avalanche of information from my investigation,” Strobel adds,
“I find the evidence for an Intelligent Designer to be credible, cogent, and
compelling. Unlike Darwinism, where my
faith has to swim upstream against the strong current of evidence flowing the
other way, putting my trust in the God of the Bible is nothing less than the
most rational and natural decision to be made.”
Strobel
has included a discussion guide at the close of The Case for a Creator to
assist with group study of the book—fashioned with skeptics in mind. A separate appendix includes a summary of
his previous best-seller, The Case for Christ, for readers who
would like to explore the claims of Christ after digesting the scientific evidence
for a Creator God. In addition to the
hardcover edition, an audio version will release simultaneously and a student
edition will release in 2005.
