Author Biography:
Dr. John Trent is President of
Encouraging Words, a ministry committed to strengthening marriage and family
relationships worldwide. Since 1995, John has spoken to more than 400,000 people
at his seminars and special events.
John Trent has authored and coauthored more than a dozen award-winning and best-selling
books for adults and children including The Blessing, The Gift of Honor,
The Language of Love, Love is a Decision, The Two Sides of Love,
LifeMapping, Love for All Seasons, Choosing to Live the Blessing,
The Treasure Tree, The Two Trails, I'd Choose You! and The
Black and White Rainbow. His most recent books, Be There! Making
Deep, Lasting Connections in a Disconnected World and Pictures Your Heart Remembers,
will be released by WaterBrook Press in August 2000. There are more than
2,100,000 copies of John Trent's books in print, in nine different languages.
John earned his Master's Degree in New Testament Greek from Dallas Theological Seminary
and his Doctoral Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling at North Central Texas
Federation of Colleges and Universities. John currently serves as the Chaplain for
CBA (Christian Booksellers Association) and is a keynote speaker at Heritage Builders
seminars, which are sponsored by Focus on the Family. John also writes numerous
magazine articles and is a featured columnist for Christian Parenting Today magazine.
For ten years John worked alongside Gary Smalley as they ministered to couples and
families at Today's Family in Phoenix, Arizona. When Gary relocated to Missouri in
1994, John founded Encouraging Words and began teaching relationship seminars across
the country. John and his wife, Cindy, have been married for twenty years, and have
two daughters. The Trents reside near Phoenix, Arizona.
